| I've never been very good at "portraits", posed shots of anything. While I admire other photographers' skill in creating a breathtaking head shot of a dog or an expertly composed group of sitting/lying dogs, I'm incapable of doing the same. Actually, posed shots bore me. It's no fun and too much work. What I excel at, what reeeeeally excites me is a candid shot that captures who the dog is. A photo that gets cuts right to a dog's personality & mood gives me goosebumps. See my work here. I like to sit with dogs, run with dogs, play with dogs, work with dogs. I simply love being with them and photographing them as they run, play, rest, sleep. I like natural outdoor settings, preferably with water. There is not much in the world that is more beautiful than a dog running or playing in water or in tall grass or on a long beach or scrummaging in the flower garden or running with a ball or bouncing through the snow. I need to see dogs being dogs and fully experiencing the Joy of Life as a Dog. I'm obsessed with capturing that Joy with my camera. Even though many of my photos may appear posed, I can count on one hand the number that actually are. I just catch dogs as they go about what makes them happy. The results excite me. So I invite you to browse my photo gallery. I hope that at the very least you are entertained, and at the most consider hiring me to fulfill my obsession with your own dog(s) at their home or favorite playspot. I must say that even though my main love is dogs at play, I also enjoy shooting show dogs in the ring or grooming area at outdoor shows. Getting the timing right and ending up with a photo of an energized dog moving out down the side or diagonal of the ring is exhilarating. So check out the Dog Show albums as well. All comments on my photography are more than welcome! Please email me at TheJoyOfBeingDog.com THANK YOU FOR VISITING! |
